Description

Handpan Kurd D minor in Ember Steel - a steel hardly any handpan maker works with

The vast majority of handpans on the market are made of nitrided steel or stainless steel. Not this instrument. Ember Steel is heat-treated steel: after shaping, the body is transformed by heat - a process only a few workshops master at all. The name comes from what you see afterwards: the deep, glowing colour of embers. Kurd D minor, with 9 or 10 notes.

Why so few makers take this route

Heat works against the tuner. It changes the tension in the steel - and with it every single note that was painstakingly set before. Anyone who heat-treats has to retune the instrument completely afterwards, by hand, tone field by tone field. Nitriding is the simpler, industrial route. Ember Steel is the demanding one. That is exactly where the difference in price lies - and in sound.

What the heat treatment makes audible

The tone gains a warmer, rounder foundation. The sustain carries longer and fades more evenly instead of breaking off abruptly. The overtones sit more cleanly over the fundamental, without rattling. And the surface carries a dark, living patina that no lacquer can imitate - every instrument looks slightly different, because heat never works the same way twice.

Kurd D minor on the best material in our range

The most played scale in the world, here on our highest-quality body. Emotional, meditative, gentle and powerful at the same time: Kurd D minor produces melodies that almost play themselves - even without any musical background. For players, sound therapists and anyone looking for an instrument for life. All Kurd models in our collection Kurd handpans.

9 or 10 notes, 440 Hz or 432 Hz

9 notes: clear, open, ideal to start. 10 notes: an additional tone field for more melodic room. 440 Hz is the standard tuning and matches all other instruments. 432 Hz sounds a touch softer and is preferred in therapeutic settings. You choose both above.

Why Resonance

Every instrument is retuned by hand and individually sound-checked before dispatch. Dispatched within 24 hours, insured and tracked. 30-day returns. For any question about choosing, you can reach us before and after your purchase.

Which tuning is right for me?

What matters is not which scale looks best on paper, but which one moves you when you listen. Minor tunings usually feel warm and inward-looking, major tunings more open and bright. So take your time and listen to the sound sample of the model you like. If you want to play with other instruments, 440 Hz is the simplest choice.

Can I return my instrument?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery. Our returns and refunds policy explains how it works and which conditions apply.
